The historical record will show variation over time of many common indicators of temperature and precipitation patterns.

The figure to the left shows the difference in extreme temperatures between 1925 and 2000. The measure used is the number of days during each of those years which the temperature exceeded 90° F.

This figure was derived by calculating the number of days the temperature exceeded 90° F for reporting HCN stations in the region and fitting a line to the calculated values. The indicated change is the number of days in the first year according to the trend line subtracted from the last year according to the trend line.
