The graph at the left shows the 100-year trend in temperature for the CARA region in red and the Contiguous United States in blue. The difference in slope of the linear trend lines indicates some effect of location on the temperature trend.

The trend lines for the U.S. were calculated from Historical Climate Network data for all stations in the contiguous US and the regional trends were calculated from data from the 114 HCN stations within the region and 67 stations surrounding the region.
