The geographic distribution of trends in the historical record will show variation over time of many common indicators of temperature and precipitation patterns.

The figure to the left shows the 100 year trend in the annual mean temperature of reporting HCN stations in the CARA Region. Shades of blue indicate a downward trend in annual mean temperature while red indicates an increasing trend for that station.

This figure was derived by calculating annual mean temperatures for each station in the region and fitting a linear trend line to those annual means for the relevant time period. The indicated change is the slope of this line multiplied by the number of years in the time period.
