By integrating the multiple layers of socio-economic driving factors, land use patterns and climate projections, CARA can help communities visualize interactions among factors and evaluate decision alternatives affecting their future. Stakeholders have access to a variety of data and tools at the CARA website:
- Methodologies - describes the types of data and projections provided, and their sources.
- Tools and tutorials help decision makers and stakeholders understand interactions between land use or climate and important factors such as health. Decision support tools go beyond background material to help them explore potential impacts from changes in land use and climate and opportunities to adapt. Under each of the main tabs of Climate, Land, People, and Coastal Issues, you'll find tools and tutorials that provide practical and useful information.
- CaraViz provides in-depth information on local and regional land cover/land use change; climate variability and change in the past and projected for the future; people, or socio-economic indicators likely to be affected by changes, such as population density and incomes; and environmental quality. CaraViz maps, graphs, tables, charts and text enable the integration and sharing of information.
- The Resources tab includes a list of acronyms and a glossary as well as references and a list of related links.
- Use the comment box at the bottom of each page to send feedback for improving the website.
Viewing Tips
To optimize your viewing of the CARA website we have listed the recommended settings below. By using the recommended configurations, you will be able to take advantage of all the site's features and have a smoother, more rewarding online experience.
Screen Resolution:
The CARA website is best viewed at 1024x768 or higher screen resolution. Changing your screen resolution to this setting will allow the whole page to be viewed without the need to scroll horizontally. (See below for directions on changing screen resolution).

The CARA website is best viewed with Mozilla Firefox (1.x), Netscape (6.x or higher), or Internet Explorer (6.x or higher). How to Change Screen Resolution:
To check or change the size of your screen area, follow these simple steps:
Windows operating platform:
- On your desktop, double click the "My Computer" icon.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Open “Display” (classic view) or Select “Appearance and Themes” (category view).
- Select “Settings” tab (classic view) or Select “Change screen resolution” (category view).
- Move the screen resolution slider bar to the 1024x768 setting.
- Click on the "OK" button.
Mac OS x platform:
- Choose "System Preferences" from the "Apple" menu or the Dock.
- Select "Displays."
- Change the selection under "Resolutions."
- On a Mac running OS 9, select "Control Panels > Monitors" from the Apple menu. Change the selection for the "Resolution."
